 Met pivotal targets in 2yrs, claims PM



‘Economy back on progress’
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that incumbent rulers have met important economic targets within two years, adding, economy is stabilising and progressing. He was talking at the meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet held here on Tuesday.
He said the foreign exchange reserves are at a respectable level, workers remittances have shown impressive growth, and revenue collection has improved.
The Prime Minister observed that investors’ confidence is also improving and manufacturing is picking up. He termed this turn around a result of prudent economic decisions of the government.
He acknowledged the services of Shaukat Tareen both as finance minister and chairman of ECC for judiciously  conducting meetings and taking a number of wise economic decisions.
The Prime Minister said that the government had taken a number of bold decisions with political commitment, which have improved people’s lives at large. He assured that all decisions will be taken in the best national interest and for the greater benefit of the common man.-APP
