Cathay brings in 27 tonnes of relief

KARACHI: In a move to help the flood-affected victims of Pakistan, Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific Airways has airlifted 27 tonnes of relief goods from Hanoi and Saigon in Vietnam.
Moreover, staff from the Cathay Pacific office in Karachi and the airline's local agent in Pakistan have each contributed one-day salary to help flood victims in the country.
The airline is also running an appeal worldwide, with each dollar donated by staff in Cathay Pacific and its sister airline Dragonair being matched by the company to further boost the relief effort.
All monies collected will be donated to UNICEF, which has already launched a significant relief effort in Pakistan.
The airline's management is constantly in touch with the Pakistani Consul General in Hong Kong to provide any relief assistance required.  Cathay Pacific operates four schedule passenger flights a week between Hong Kong and Karachi. -APP
