 39 officers promoted to BS-22



ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday approved the promotion of 39 officers of different groups in BS-22 on the recommendations of high powered selection board.
The decision was taken in a meeting of high powered selection board held here Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, which recommended 39 officers of different groups for promotion in BS-22.
The meeting was attended by principal secretary to the PM, establishment secretary, cabinet secretary, auditor general of Pakistan, and the secretaries of ministries and divisions.
Names of Khurshid Anwar, Tariq Azizuddin, Khalid Khattak, Haroon Shaukat, Zamir Akram, Jalil Abbas Jilani, and Masood Khan have been approved for promotion in foreign service of Pakistan.
Names of Muhamad Ayub Khan Tarin, Abdul Waheed Khan, and Ghalib-ud-din have been recommended for promotion in audit and account service.
Names of Syed Shabir Ahmed, Tariq Masood Khosa, Malik Muhammad Iqbal, and Khalid Farooq have been approved for promotion in police service of Pakistan while Abdul Hameed has been approved for promotion in postal group.
For promotion to post of secretary in the secretariat group, names of Tariq Iqbal Puri, Anis-ul-Hasnain Musavi, Irfan Nadeem Sayeed, Inamullah Khan, Khalid Idrees, Muhammad Ikram-ul-Haq, Athar Tahir, Shahid Hussain Raja, Shaukat Hayat Durrani, Naguib Ullah Malik, Asif Bajwa, Abdul Ghaffar Soomro, Qamar Zaman, Muhammad Javed Malik, Saeed Ahmed Khan, Rukhsana Saleem, Ishtiak Ahmed Khan, Iqbal Ahmed, Sahibzada M Khalid, Shahid Rashid, Nasir Mahmood Khan Khosa, Javed Iqbal, Junaid Iqbal Chaudhary and Muhammad Abbas have been approved.
Earlier, the Prime Minister has directed the concerned authorities to implement the Supreme Court's judgment of April 28, 2010 in letter and spirit. Accordingly Civil Services (Promotion to the Post of Secretary BS-22 and equivalent) Rules, 2010 were notified on August 16. The rules make those officers eligible for promotion on BS-22 who have rendered twenty five years service in BS-17 and above including at least two years service in a post in BS-21.  Establishment Division has fixed the August 16 as the cut-off date for the purpose. The officers who could not complete two years service in BS-21 as on August 16, 2010 were not considered for promotion. -NNI
