KARACHI: Water supply to defaulters would be disconnected only to be resumed upon payment of outstanding dues. Karachi Water & Sewerage Board has decided to speed up the recovery from defaulters' campaign and this action is a part of the strategic decisions taken in this regard.
Managing Director Karachi Water & Sewerage Board Misbahuddin Farid chaired a high profile meeting with DMD T&S Ali Muhammad Palejo, DMD Revenue Waqar Hashmi and other Officers of Revenue Department.
It was informed during the meeting that formulation of Joint Teams of Revenue and Engineering Departments has speed up the recovery process.
Supply to SITE limited was disconnected but resumed later on after payment of instalments, deciding the schedule of payment as well. Other Government Institutions in the defaulters list include PTCL, Faisal Cantonment Board, Pakistan Steel, Export Processing Zone and others.
MD KW&SB Misbahuddin Farid expressed his satisfaction on the performance of Revenue Department and directed Engineering Department to help Revenue by all means possible. He directed the revenue officers not to take any pressure from anyone.
MD KW&SB has directed to issue final notices to all these institutions and if they fail to pay their dues their supply would be disconnected. He said that KW&SB is a public service institution and it is vital to improve the revenue situation in order to keep the process intact. The recent actions are only to ensure improvement in KW&SB revenue in order to facilitate the citizens of Karachi.
