Niamat wins gold in boxing

DHAKA: Pakistan's Niamat-ullah clinched the light fly gold medal by beating his Bhutanese opponent Sigyel on points in the final of the 11th South Asian Games at Muhammad Ali Boxing Stadium on Monday.
Niamat displayed superb technique and punching power to grab the gold. Niamat dominated the bout throughout three rounds to emerge a clear winner.
However, his captain Muhammad Waseem contented with a silver medal after he was out-pointed by his Indian opponent and Asian Champion Suranjoy Singh in 51kg fly weight class. -APP
