 Legislators raise voice over Karachi situation



MPs demand govt to present facts
ISLAMABAD: Political parties from both the ruling coalition and the opposition have expressed severe concerns over the law and order situation in Karachi and demanded of the government to present facts in the House and take action against real culprits involved in Karachi blasts.
Starting debate over adjournment motion on law and order situation in Karachi in the National Assembly here Monday, SA Iqbal Qadri of MQM said that these incidents showed the failure of the government and questioned that what were the intelligence agencies doing when terrorists succeeded in carrying out bomb blasts.
 He urged all the political parties and law enforcement agencies to devise plan for stopping terror incidents and said that: "capital is going out of Karachi and unemployment would increase if situation worsened further".
Bushra Gohar of ANP said that Karachi has been become butchery of Pakhtoons and politics of reconciliation is being carried out on their corpses, adding, target killings stop when reconciliation starts.
Law enforcement agencies failed to provide security to Pakhtoons and we are not against reconciliation with MQM, she said and alleged that this reconciliation is being made through black mailing to keep occupation. "May 12 incident is yet to be probed", she added.
Barjees Tahir of PML-N said that there is no government writ and 48 innocent persons were killed on May 12 and killers were shown on TV but no culprit was arrested, adding, Boltan Market was destroyed but what was interior ministry doing? "Situation is worsening further but agencies are busy in giving protocol to the ministers", he added.
PML-Q Marvi Memon said that no report was presented on the Boltan Market and incident after incident is taking place and Shia community is under attack, adding, steps should be taken for all communities because they are all equal.
She urged the Prime Minister to tell the house who is responsible for the Karachi situation and we will not run the parliament if the government does not reply.
PML-Q parliamentary leader Faisal Saleh Hayat on point of order said that the government should take all the political parties into confidence before sending a delegation to India for talks.
He asked the Foreign Office to make it clear that whether water issue is on the agenda of talks or not and added that water issue is important than Kashmir issue.-Online
