America claims Pakistan is its frontline partner in the War on Terror, but looks down upon us when it's high on its back-patting camaraderie with India. It is Pakistan that has been fighting America's 'Proxy War in Afghanistan' not India. It is Pakistani soldiers sacrificing lives jumping fearlessly into militant holes so that America could sleep well. It is Pakistani men, women, and children who are dying everyday in backlash attacks. The States must pay attention to the gore being splashed all over Pakistan's face. The ace superpower's appointing India as watchman in the region and writing "do more" on all the walls in Pakistan tells a tale of its coloured foreign policy. It winked at India's stake in Chabahar Port Iran, offered it a cordial cup of civil nuclear tea, but clogged Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline with diplomatic trash. We need to flex some mental muscle on this Indo-American romance. Like every supereconomy railroading its way through the poor continents for resources and markets it has also always dreamt of putting the Globe in its very personal jar, like a child collects marbles. In the recent past it had two other contenders, USSR and China. But the USSR, in Afghanistan, got over-boiled in its hot pursuit for warm-waters and saw its flesh leaving bones state by state. Maybe the Middle Kingdom was too hard a nut to crack even for the superpower. China chose to strengthen its economy and by gradually accumulating greater share in the global markets became somewhat economically invincible. This forced US to shove trillions of dollars up Chinese markets to yank the supply chain. The 9/11 was used as a justification to begin 'War on Terror'. Around the same time Iraq was attacked for developing weapons of mass destruction. Having enormous oil & gas reserves could force you to face hegemon's confiscatory designs. It all started with Iraq's attack on Iran, a war spurred to bailout arsenal-sellers and let the unrest lay down roots in Middle East. Having Arabian Peninsula under its claw the mighty is now casting its lust-full sights elsewhere in Asia. But attempts to engage China in a boarder dispute in early sixties only brought our so-called powerful benefactor at sixes and sevens. As per reports under the cover of operations against Somali pirates India is being encouraged to exhibit its naval power, which can disrupt movement of ships in the Indian Ocean. To undermine the importance of Pakistan, particularly the deep sea port of Gwadar, regional watchman ran to construct Chabahar port, close to Gwadar, with rail and road links going through Afghanistan and into the Central Asian States. Accounts that India is also propagating and supporting creation of an independent state for Pushtoons are also doing rounds. Where this rampageous marauding by the super-hegemon would end no one knows, but when will we rise above the ongoing Sturm-und-Drang and rip our destiny from the hands of the behemoth -bullies is what we have to decide very now. So shape up or have yourself shipped out. |
