Pir Mazhar opens Arts and Science expo LARKANA: Sindh Senior Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq inaugurated an Arts and Science exhibition at Government Girls Degree College Larkana here Monday. He inspected various sections of the exhibition and took keen interest in the traditional work of the girls students and appreciated their work. Sindh Law Minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Shahnaz Mazhar-ul-Haq and others were also present on the occasion. Pir Mazhar on the occasion gave away offer letters to 10 female candidates of the Junior School Teachers (JST) who passed the written test recently. Earlier, the minister also inaugurated the re-starting of the classes of BEd and MEd in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto College of Education Larkana. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the government had initiated a number of steps to provide quality education to the future generation with all the required facilities for the students and educational institutions. He said that the government wanted to provide quality education to future generations through joint efforts of public and private sectors and it was the desire of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to promote education by involving the private sector. He said around 13,000 primary school teachers (PSTs) will be recruited across Sindh purely on merit and no compromise will be made on merit. The minister said he has fulfilled the promise of Benazir Bhutto to reopen 15000 non-functional and closed ghost schools in Sindh. He confirmed that 60 to 80 per cent merit recruitment was made during the recruitment of teachers in Sindh and the teachers training with quality and skill development is the objective of this government. He said that due to lack of training of school teachers and the deteriorating condition of education, the present government has decided to impart quality education with trainings and trends of new concepts and good education to the teachers. Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq said that the media and civil society should eye on the funds utilisation and monitor schools activities all over Sindh in order to improve the quality of education. Sindh Minister for Law Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, DCO and Administrator Larkana Syed Hassan Naqvi, Principal of the College Manthar Bhutto and others also aired their point of view on the occasion. -APP
