Pak-US Relations - Letter to The Editor 01

Letter to Editor
Pak-US relation faced ups & downs in the past but the whole scenario changed after the 9/11 terrorist attack on World Trade Center, this was the attack on US's Military & political setup, the whole International Community condemned the attacks, Pakistan was one of them.
At that crucial time US desperately needed the help of Pakistan to launch war on Afghanistan because of the thought that Taliban & Al-Qaeda were behind these attacks. For this negotiations held between both countries & finally Pakistan joint "War on Terror" & from threat day onwards Pakistan is helping us in every manner.

In the meantime US also signed nuclear tests arsenals are safe & declined help to Pakistan's nuclear program as it is not saved. It must be noted Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state having these weapons for its defense only & follow international code of ethic. Secondly US blamed Pakistan that they are involved in nuclear proliferation. During the present strategic talks Pakistan US to help them in solving different problems like; water issue, open market trade & power generation. However US said that Pakistan should build dams to fulfill their requirements of water which will also helpful in generating power & on nuclear position US's Secretary of State said that Pak-America civil nuclear agreement without satisfying international community is not possible & they have also some reservations on not signing of NPT by Pakistan.
This shows that US don not want strong & stable Pakistan which may emerge as power in the region, despite the fact that Pakistan is their ally. The US Ambassador in Afghanistan said that the current struggle of Pakistan is appreciatable but it should be expanded which will help in strengthening bilateral relations & mutual cooperation.
After overseeing this entire one must acknowledge the diplomatic shifts of US during last three decades realise they were, are & never will be our true friends loyally. Therefore, our tilt of policy should be towards the time tested friend i.e. China & must try to improve the relation in every walk of life. We may also to sign a mutual defense treaty of the threat from India, Afghanistan & US persists.
