KARACHI: The Government of Sindh, as well as, the Karachi Fisheries Harbour Authority (KFHA) would take all possible measures to enhance the security of the Karachi Fish Harbour, said the Minister for Fisheries Sindh/Chairman, KFHA Zahid Bhurgari in a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Fisheries Exporters Association (PFEA) held on Saturday at Karachi Fish Harbour to review the law and order situation at the Harbour. The PFEA delegation was headed by Faisal Iftikhar. The meeting was attended by Town Police Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Director Administration & Finance, KFHA, Director Operations, KFHA, Administrator Fishermen's Cooperative Society and fish traders. The delegation of PFEA expressed their concern over the deteriorating law and order situation and demanded high alert security at the Karachi Fish Harbour. They set a condition that they would only resume their business activities when new fishing season begins, if the Government of Sindh or the KFHA guarantee them of taking adequate security measure so that incidence of robbery, dacoity or extortion could not be occurred within the jurisdiction of the Karachi Fish Harbour. The Town Police Officer informed the meeting that his team was closely monitoring the situation at the Karachi Fish Harbour and therefore crime rate had been decreased to some extent. He assured his full support to exporters. The Minister directed the KFHA officials to bring drastic improvements in the internal security system. He appealed to the exporters that they should resume their business activities on start of new fishing season as the KFHA would be responsible for the internal security. -PPI
