ASI among eight shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: Eight people were killed in different incidents across the metropolis here on Saturday. Unidentified armed men opened fire on ASI Zahoor Ahmed, aged 35, near Al-Fatah Chowk in Orangi Town, killing him on the spot, said a police official. He said that the ASI was killed during patrolling in Mominabad Police Station limits.
The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem.
In another incident, armed persons opened fire on a 35-year old man Ejaz in Punjab Town near Wireless Gate, Malir, killing him on the spot, said a police official.
The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for medico-legal formalities. No case was registered till filing of this story.
Meanwhile, unidentified armed men opened fire on a 50-year-old man Javed s/o Mohammad Sharif near Gate No.15, Keamari Town, killing him on the spot, said a police official.
The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for an autopsy and later handed over to the heirs. Jackson police have registered a case and started further investigation.
Separately, the bullet-riddled body of a 30-year-old woman was found from Lal School's ground in F.B Area, said Chhipa sources. The identity of victim could not be ascertained. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. In fifth incident, unidentified armed men opened fire on a 28-year-old man Khalid Khan s/o Saeed Mohammad Khan in Baldia Town No. 4, killing him on the spot, said a police official. He said the victim was the President Awami National Party (ANP) UC 7 Baldia Town chapter.
The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for postmortem and later handed over to the heirs. No case was registered till filing.
