Restaurant sealed, factory rewarded in raids

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed a coffee shop on Mahmood Kasuri Road and awarded Rs25,000 to an ice cream factory during raids here on Tuesday.
The coffee shop was sealed for poor cleanliness in kitchen, presence of insects, not having a food licence etc.
Meanwhile, PFA Director General Noorul Amin Mengal awarded cash to Hico Ice Cream Factory for maintaining hygienic environment.
PFA's food safety teams under the supervision of Mr Mengal, Deputy Director (operations) Mr Farhan and food safety officers (FSO) raided several eateries and checked their production areas on Mahmood Kasuri Road, Gulberg II, Multan Road, DHA and other areas of the city.
The teams also issued fine tickets of Rs25,000 to the International Bakery and Khalid Vermicelli at Ghalib Market and Latif Chowk, Vandala Road, Shahdara.
The PFA has issued improvement notices to 23 eateries, including Second Cup Coffee, Gloria Jeans, Coffee Planet at DHA Phase 5, Malmo Sweets and Bakers at Bhobattiyan Chowk.
