Taseer’s tall talk comes under ‘N’ fire

Ahsan Iqbal says 'N' doesn't need PPP support in Punjab
LAHORE: PML-N has expressed its strong dismay over the language used by Punjab Governor Salman Taseer in a ceremony at Governor House on Saturday evening.
The PML-N Central leaders Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Bilal Yaseen, Naseer Ahmed Bhutta, Dr Zumarid Yasmeen, Ajasam Sharif and Raja Ishfaq Sarwar in a joint statement on Sunday strongly reacted to the language used by Salman Taseer and said that he is a political orphan.
PML-N government was not formed with the help of Salman Taseer nor will it collapse as he wishes.
Salman Taseer should understand that PML-N enjoys majority in the Punjab Assembly. Sharif brothers are living in the hearts of the nation, while the government has only support of some people. They asked Salman Taseer if he really starts politic, he should leave the Governor House and take part in the politics. They said PML-N believes in politics of principles and the statements of the Government would not damage the moral of the workers. He said those issuing baseless statements should know that Punjab is the stronghold of PML-N.
The PML-N leaders said that conspiracy to destabilise government in Punjab will not be successful. They said that PML-N decision to sit in opposition in the Centre was welcomed by the people.
They strongly criticised the statement of Punjab Governor in which he said that if PPP quits the cabinet, then the government will fall at once.
Meanwhile, Central Secretary Information of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Ahsan Iqbal has also tore apart the statements being made by Salman Taseer and said that his party (PML-N) has clear majority in Punjab and can maintain its government without support of PPP.
"The leadership of PPP should take notice of some shameful statements of their leaders", he said.
In a statement, he said elections were held after eleven years for the post of President of Pakistan under constitution and its results were admitted by all sides, which is the sign stable democracy in the country.
"PML-N followed its principles despite doing politics of victory or defeat, which is good omen that all the members of PML-N expressed full solidarity with its party being in opposition while PML-Q was whitewashed", he pointed out.
Ahsan Iqbal said the presidential elections has proved that PML-N has the support of clear majority without the support of PPP but some elements in ranks of PPP spreading bitterness by showing loyalties and the PPP leadership should take notice of it.
"If PML-N replies to these statements will increase bitterness", he remarked. He said PML-N and PPP ought to respect each other's mandate by following charter of Democracy so that to play their due role in success of democracy.
He expressed hope that PPP government will restore all the deposed judges on Nov 2nd position to end the judicial crises otherwise lawyers, civil society members and PML-N will continue struggle for the restoration of deposed judges.
"The President-elect will take oath from constitutional Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry because taking oath from Dogar will remain controversial", he said.
Ahsan Iqbal said PML-N is committed to extend its unconditional support for the repealing of 17th amendment and implement charter of democracy and hoped all steps in this regard will be taken.-NNI
