Since times immemorial women were always titled as House Wife and it has been only since three or four decades women are now being referred to as Home Maker. Essentially the Home Maker is responsible for laying foundation of a civilised family in particular and the society at large finally culminating her role in building a Civilised Nation. When a Home--Makers takes to the mantle of a Nation Maker the related country develops by leaps and bounds in the spheres of social cultural economic and industrial growth.
For generations English language has offered two phrases for the same woman and ensured that both meant the same while in reality they are poles apart yet intermingled. "Homemaker is surely in reality the most important task in any society in immediate effect and long term effect on the canvas of the world ". In words of C.S. LEWS ( a British Author)
" Housewife " is a job description while
" Homemaker " is an identity .
Perhaps in that small shift lies the entire, unfinished revolution of women's lives.
Just have a look at any census or survey form and a box says," Housewife ". It generally implies a woman who is at home because she doesn't go out to work. But in disguise by raising a contributory family she is in fact building up a nation. On the face of things for her children the mother is just looking after the affairs of the house but they are oblivious of the fact that she is building up a tiny nation over number of years of hard work.
For the children she just cooks, washes dishes, clean  the house, does the laundry and other related chores from A to Z. The Homemaker is measured by the home environment. She knows that her husband needs 10 minutes peace of mind when he returns home after work. She has to remember little things like her son not fond of onions in his omelette. She knows and remembers the needs of parents at home, their meals timings as well their medical necessities. She keeps in mind every family members liking and disliking while preparing food. She knows which neighbour is not well or if any cousin or friend needs her help. She is punctual in checking her children's homework. The final word is that she is gradually transforming her house made of bricks and cement into a place called home where everyone is welcomed with a smile.
Her love for home and family is visible in clean counters, warm meals, folded clothes and in a peaceful and welcoming environment at home. Now do not think the chores here recalled and written are nostalgia. But it is Economics. A Homemaker as revealed in multiple surveys in South Asia puts in 48 hrs job in a 24 hrs day.
The world history is replete with instances of some great women who changed the destinies of their countries thru sheer grit courage and vision. To name a few we have at hand Benazir Bhutto, Indira Gandhi, Bilquis Edhi, Sonia Gandhi, Margaret Thatcher  and Chancellor Angela Merkel. They were institutions in their own during the time they led their related countries.
Being a Homemaker doesn't mean to get stuck at home. It mean fill your home with love, truth, sincerity and purpose.
A Homemaker can also have dreams, hobbies, businesses and rest , all while making your home a heaven on earth.
A home--maker can also be a nation--maker.
Women have proved that.
Take a look to the greatest woman in our region..South Asia.
1. Mohterma Benazeer Bhutto: Indeed a woman of substance. The world remember Shaheed Mohterma Benazeer Bhutto as the first woman Prime Minister of the Muslim world. A leader who faced dictators, prisons and lived in exile. While in exile in Larkana and then in Dubai people seen her doing house chores and looking after her children. She used to check her children's homework, packing their lunch boxes and spending quality time with them. Also at the same time taking care of her ailing mother, Begum Nusrat Bhutto.
Once in an interview her husband quoted, that at home she was not a Prime Minister but a mother who made sure that her children eat daal chawal at the table together. She proved that a Homemaker can do everything. She makes a home , and she makes a nation. She managed her home and a country of 160 million people together
2.   Bilquis Edhi: Bilquis Edhi was the Homemaker of the homeless 20,000 children. At the tender age of sixteen years she married Edhi Saheb , and opted to become a mother of homeless abandoned children. She bathed those babies, fed them even at midnight , give them names and found homes for thousands of them through adoption system. Her home was her office but without AC and salary.
1. Indra Gandhi: Indra Gandhi, across the border, Prime Minister for 16 years known as, " The Iron Lady " in the Western world,
But once at Teen Murti Bhavan, her home , she was a different woman very soft. After her husband's early death she raised her two boys. Sanjay Gandhi wrote that his mother was very perticular, would check if his kurta is ironed and if the kitchen had enough milk...despite ruling a country of six million people. She never liked to call herself woman Prime Minister but only Prime Minister
4. Angela Markel:  Angela Merkel , Chancellor of Germany for 16 years known for maintaining exceptionally normal down to earth routine. Her daily routine on her way back home from office included , to stop at a local grocery store, shop , carrying her own grocery bags home. Once home she cook dinner right away and share other domestic routine with her husband.
5. Sanae Takaichi: Latest example is from East Asia, Japanese Prime Minister.
After her days work at office, when she return home, she washes dishes, do laundry and make breakfast the next morning. In addition also spent few hours working for office. How well she is working as a homemaker as well as nation maker. There are more examples from Western World but not possible to discuss all. These ladies were not housewives, they were Homemakers and Nation Makers. A Housewife manages a house but a Homemaker manages lives..
Hence the word Housewife is too small for a woman.
